Founding Institutions
National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Engineering
The National Academies are private, nonprofit institutions that provide independent, objective expert advice on some of the most pressing challenges facing the nation and the world. Their work helps shape sound policies, inform public opinion, and advance the pursuit of science, engineering, and medicine. The Academies bring together the nation’s best and brightest scientific and technical minds, including nearly 500 Nobel Prize winners, who volunteer their time to provide our country’s leaders with the best available evidence and advice. A steadfast commitment to integrity and independence has established the Academies as a credible resource for decision makers.
