Michael Blackhurst is Research Development Manager at the University Center for Social & Urban Research at the University of Pittsburgh. His research is interdisciplinary, drawing from engineering, economics, and statistics, among other disciplines. Current research and consulting areas include energy and water demand-side management for the buildings sector, regional climate change mitigation and adaptation, regional water resource planning, and environmental life cycle assessment. In addition, his work focuses on developing robust, data-driven decision-support resources for a wide array of stakeholders. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering and in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. He holds an M.S. in Environmental and Water Resource Engineering from the University of Texas-Austin, and a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
